Organizer: Nguyen-Tran Yen-Khang, Shimane University, Japan
Khang Nguyen-Tran is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Architecture and Design at Shimane University, Japan. With academic
experience in Europe and Southeast Asia, she brings a global perspective to her
research, focusing on how individuals perceive, interact with, and experience
the spatial qualities of the built environment.
Her interdisciplinary expertise spans architecture, design, history, and urban
planning, with a particular emphasis on data analysis to explore how human
perception is influenced by urban environments, including heritage sites and
public spaces. By integrating user-centred design principles, advanced
technologies such as BIM, environmental simulation, and eye-tracking, she
investigates the factors shaping human experience and visual appeal.
Her work is often found in publications of the Architectural Institute of Japan
and international conferences like Sustainable Built Environment and Civil
Engineering and Architecture. She also collaborates with local authorities to
revitalize shrinking cities, fostering community participation and creating
culturally meaningful spaces.
